Ireland: Minister Heydon Announces €4 Million Dairy Beef Weighing Measure

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, today announced the opening of the 2026 National Dairy Beef Weighing Scheme (NDBWS).

European Processor Dawn Meats to Acquire New Zealand Sheep Meat Exporter Alliance

Ireland-based processor Dawn Meats, specialized in red meat, has agreed to acquire 65% of Alliance Group for $250 million.

Alliance is one of the largest exporters of New Zealand sheep meat, but it also exports beef, venison, and others to around 65 countries, DC Advisory, the company advising the acquisition, said. Currently, Dawn Meats exports to around 50 countries, with a turnover of €3 billion, the company said.

ANALYSIS: Irish Beef Market Under Supply Pressure

In June 2025, Ireland’s cumulative beef processing volumes are approximately 15,000 head above the same period last year. However, tightening supply across other European countries is placing significant upward pressure on beef prices.
