Maple Leaf Foods to Consolidate US Plant Protein Production to Indianapolis
On September 22, the team at Ontario-based Maple Leaf Foods announced the upcoming closure at plant protein manufacturing sites in Seattle, Washington and Turners Falls, Massachusetts, according to a press release.
So, the move will consolidate all US production into a single "Centre of Excellence" at the company’s Indianapolis, Indiana plant. The transition will occur in phases over 12 to 18 months, with completion targeted for Q4 2027; both legacy sites will continue operating throughout the transfer to maintain customer service continuity.
Canadian Plant-Based Manufacturer Closes US Site
As of July 16, the British Colombia, Canada-based No Meat Factory will close its US factory in Stanwood, Washington by September 16, reported HeraldNet, citing the company’s WARN notice that indicated 123 employees would be affected.
