ANALYSIS: EU Egg Exports Stable, but Trade Flows Shift
EU egg exports were almost unchanged in Jan-May 2026, with total shipments down just 0.3% year on year (YOY), but the destination mix shifted significantly. Switzerland became the largest export market, with shipments surging 189.1% YOY to 64,368 tons, overtaking the UK, where volumes fell 15.3% to 57,416 tons. Japan also recorded a decline, with exports down 12.2% to 21,921 tons.
Together, Switzerland, the UK and Japan absorbed 143,705 tons, accounting for 73.4% of total EU egg exports during the period. However, the balance between these key markets changed considerably...
