ANALYSIS: Sluggish Start to 2025 Japan’s Beef Imports
Japan’s total beef imports in January 2025 slumped 17.0% month-on-month (m-o-m) to 32,576 metric tons (mt), according to the latest data from Japan’s Trade Statistics.
Marking the lowest levels since February 2024, monthly inbound tonnage dropped 6,651 mt on the back of lower volumes from Australia and the United States (US), while increased shipments from New Zealand helped mitigate further declines.
