ANALYSIS: Is HPAI Impacting the U.S. Chicken Market?
In the past couple of years, different sectors of the poultry industry in the U.S. have had to deal with an ongoing outbreak of HPAI. The current surge began on February 8, 2022, when a commercial turkey flock in Indiana was confirmed to have contracted the virus. Since then, losses of commercial birds have been reported in thirty-four states and approximately 8.97 million commercial broiler breeders and broilers have been affected.
