USDA’s Economic Research Service Assesses Food-Away-from-Home Landscape in Rural Communities
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Economic Research Service (ERS) released a report that breaks down the food-away-from-home (FAFH) landscape.
FAFH spending has grown in recent years and may sometimes surpass food-at-home spending. The issue the ERS wanted to dive into was focused on food access challenges those in rural communities have. Often, residents in these areas must travel long distances to access restaurants or have very limited options nearby.
